Trend extends to neighboring counties as well

Since it first opened two years ago, the Gunnison County jail has been a model of corrections technology and fortitude, fulfilling every need of a county facility — and then some. The 54-bed detention center has the hardware to expand to 104. Surveillance is accomplished through 56 video cameras and 29 miles of cable. There’s video conferencing that allows for secure visitation, and that reduces the need for transporting prisoners.
