Let’s consider facts instead of tone
A recent report from a highly esteemed expert in the field of affordable housing is but the latest unfortunate example of misinformation surrounding The Corner at Brush Creek affordable housing proposal.
Crested Butte town leaders have vocally opposed the 240-unit development at the intersection of Brush Creek Road and Hwy. 135 — but stopped short last week of passing a resolution formally objecting to the property’s sale to Houstonbased Gatesco, whose proposal is currently being reviewed by Gunnison County Planning Commission. Nevertheless, the town recently hired housing consultant Melanie Rees to compare the proposal with the findings of the 2016 Gunnison Valley Housing Needs Assessment, for which Rees served as the chief author.
