What sailors can teach us about community

Ordinarily, fall is my favorite time of year. I love the colors, the changing quality of sunlight and the new chill in the air. I won’t go so far as to say I look forward to winter just yet, but I’m always happy to Be Here Now when autumn rolls around.

Except for this year. This time the arrival of fall marked the end of something I love even more. I’m talking about a summertime activity (in these parts at least) which I rediscovered last June after an absence of many years: sailing.
