When ‘disaster’ doesn’t strike

The amazing thing is that it took so long. After 12 years, six months, 11 days and eight hours, I finally faced what every parent fears but dreadfully expects: A trip to the Emergency Room. It was, of course, only a matter of time. As the stories from friends mounted of their kids’ bike crashes, trampoline trip-ups and swing-set follies, I knew that we, too, would one day be adding our own chapter (or two) to the story of Growing Up in Gunnison.
