Over the years, Bob Gydesen’s partners in a myriad of mining operations have come and gone. It’s the nature of the business.

The gold market rises and falls, and with it so too do investors. Die-hard miners — such as Gydesen’s father, Bill, and his longtime partner, Joel Fennern — reach old age and eventually pass. Modern mining techniques gain traction, and new money enters the picture.
