Norman Anthony ‘Tony’ Anderson

Norman Anthony “Tony” Anderson found peace Nov. 14, 2017 after battling cancer. Tony was born July 9, 1941 in Lawton, Okla. to Norman Arnold and Myrne Mullman Anderson. He was preceded in death by his sister Lucinda Anderson. Tony spent most of his adult life working and fishing in Colorado; a state he enjoyed during all seasons, equally appreciating the smallest wild flowers and the most majestic snowfalls. His last few years he lived in Gunnison. He served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966 before finding his passion for food service. Tony operated Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants for 17 years and acquired his own franchise before joining the Wendy’s management team. In his rise from store management to vice president, Tony was able to combine his food service expertise with his love of technology. Tony retired from Wendy’s as the Director of MIS. Tony is survived by his sister Jo Anderson Strouss and husband Henry of New York City, N.Y. His children are Martin G. Anderson and wife Cari, of Gunnison, Colo.: Norman P. Anderson and wife Claire of Abilene, Kan.: Kyle L. Jones Anderson, and wife Julie of Hiram, Ga. He also has nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. A graveside service will be held at the Gunnison Cemetery on Dec. 2 at 11 a.m. A remembrance gathering will follow at the American Legion, 107 S. 12th St. Please dress according to weather conditions. If weather does not permit a graveside service, both events will be held at the American Legion.
