Rosalie ‘Edith’ Perusek

Rosalie Perusek of Palisade passed away Dec. 10, 2017. She was 86 years of age. Rosalie was born in Doyleville, Colo., on Oct. 12, 1931 to Robert Prosser and Edith Metzger Prosser. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Gunnison. The milder climate brought them to Palisade in 1992, but they always considered Gunnison their home. Rosalie Prosser married Edward Perusek on July 21, 1951 in Raton, N.M. Ed passed away March 24, 2006. They had three children — John (Colette) of Gunnison, Marilyn Smith (Doug) of Grand Junction, and Mike (Camille) of Vernal, Utah. In addition, she had 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Rosalie is survived by her brothers Donald Prosser (Lela), Dave Prosser (Sharon) and Carl Prosser (Freda), all of Delta, as well as her sister-in-laws Betty Prosser and Gloria Prosser. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who all loved her. Her parents, along with her two sisters (Marian and Mildred) and four brothers (Bob, Bill, Ernie and Victor), preceded her in death. Rosalie loved her family first and foremost. In her last days, she was still caring for us — telling us to go get something to eat and to get some rest. If we were happy, she was happy. She loved cooking for us and feeding us. She was a great cook. She loved picnic day up in the mountains, gardening and had beautiful flowers every summer. The word used most to describe her was "sweet," and she certainly was a sweet little lady. Rosalie had different jobs in her life to help support the family, but was primarily a wonderful homemaker. A memorial will be held in Gunnison on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Fred R. Field Western Heritage Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HopeWest of Grand Junction. The family will be forever grateful to this entire organization and their staff for all their kindness, wisdom and support.
