Victoria Cecile (Julio) Kirtay
Victoria Cecile (Julio) Kirtay passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017. She was born July 13, 1965 in Gunnison, Colo. to Pat T. Julio and Marsha T. Elliott. An international couple, Vikki and Ali celebrated two marriage ceremonies. The first on the island of Cyprus with Ali's family and friends on Aug. 15, 1992. The second near Lake City for Vikki's family and friends on Sept. 19 of that year. Vikki worked as a scientist performing applied marine environmental research for the Navy's Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Department of Environmental Sciences. She received her BA in Biological Sciences from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1989 and her Masters in Environmental Science from Bosphorus University, Istanbul, 1994. She was the author of numerous papers and received several awards for her research and papers. Vikki is survived by her husband, Ali, and children Jeyan and Kaan, living in San Diego, Calif. Dan Julio and partner, Tyler Alpern, in Boulder, Colo. Victoria preceded in death by her mother, Marsha T. Julio and father, Pat T. Julio. Memorial donation can be made to the Pat T. Julio and Marsha T. Julio Memorial Art scholarship fund at WSCU, the World Wildlife Fund and the Nature Conservancy.
