Bare bones of existence

The view two miles into the inaugural Summer Grand Traverse (GT) was epic. Skimming the lower edges of Mount Crested Butte, you could see fog blanketing the north end of the Gunnison Valley. The sun was already hitting the peaks, illuminating them in an orange glow. But the 142 runners who voluntarily signed up to run 40 miles from Crested Butte to Aspen were still hidden in the shadows.
