Crosswalk confusion calls for new rules

What do the rules say about cyclists and crosswalks in the City of Gunnison? Depends who you ask — and where in the city the question is applied.

The topic has become an ongoing source of confusion downtown, thanks in large part to state law. For example, statute treats cyclists like pedestrians in some cases but vehicles in others. And motorists must yield the right-of-way to cyclists riding in a crosswalk — except when prohibited by “official traffic control devices or local ordinances.”
