Turning away from trails would be a mistake

Last week’s Notions in the Crested Butte News wondered at the pushback the proposed Signal Peak trail system was receiving in the south valley. Reaction in the north valley was mostly confusion. Why wouldn’t Gunnison want more trails adjoining the city proper? For bikers, trail runners and hikers, more trails are simply accepted as a good thing. And when trail systems adjoin town, even better. No need to jump in the car to take a ride, walk or run. Good for Western for those same reasons.

A number of people in the south valley offered reasons for the pushback.
