No idleness this March

I heard a honk in the sky the other day. I’m pretty sure it came from a sandhill crane — one of the thousands that has a reservation down at the Monte Vista flyby motel this weekend. 

There’s a festival going on, you know, and these feathery high flyers are the main attraction.

The return of the sandhills can mean only one thing: Spring is still a long, long ways away in the Gunnison Valley. Cold and blustery with a chance of flurries surely dominates our near-term forecast.
