Drinking up the Milky Way

On a recent clear night, during a new moon when night skies are the darkest, photographer Joel Matuszczak ventured to Hartman Rocks Recreation Area to capture our galaxy, the Milky Way, with a long exposure. A flashlight helped create the effect pictured here, as did the fact that the Milky Way appears brighter during summer months in the Northern Hemisphere.
