Hartman Rocks open for season

BLM says popular recreation area good to go

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on Monday, April 21, opened roads and trails north of the powerline within the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area for public travel. All roads and trails south of the powerline will remain closed to motorized and mechanized travel for Gunnison Sage-grouse conservation until Thursday, May 15.
“There are a few wet spots along trails and roads and we ask the public to tread lightly to prevent resource damage,” said Kristi Murphy, BLM outdoor recreation planner.  “Some trails that retain snow, like Water Treatment and Free Fall, will stay closed until water and mud are no longer an issue.”
The BLM encourages the public to enjoy the Hartman Rocks Recreation Area and to maintain the area by staying on designated routes, properly disposing of trash and respecting the multiple-use designations.
