William Clinton McDonough

William Clinton McDonough passed away Aug. 6 in Glenwood Springs. The son of Dan and Karen McDonough was born April 3, 1977, in Gunnison. Known as Clint to his family and friends, he graduated from Gunnison High School in 1995. In 1998, Clint married Melinda Gray and moved to Montrose. They were blessed with a daughter Breeanna and son Parker. Clint became employed at the Montrose County Regional Airport and thus began his love for aviation. In 2002 he went to work at the Telluride Airport where he began a career as an Aircraft Rescue Firefighter. During his career in Telluride he became the ARFF chief, director of line operations and Training Standards and Safety coordinator. In 2012 he moved to Glenwood Springs and continued his career at the Pitkin County Airport in Aspen, as the Airport Operations specialist and as a member of the ARFF crew. Clint loved his family and deeply enjoyed spending time with them at their two mountain cabins. He enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt biking, four-wheeling, camping and fishing. He is survived by his daughter Breeanna McDonough, son Parker McDonough, wife, Melinda McDonough of Montrose; parents Dan and Karen McDonough of Gunnison; sister Shelia (Nathan) Ballard of Delta; brother Tom (Amber) McDonough of Gunnison; grandmother Ruth McDonough of Gunnison; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Community Church in Gunnison. Arrangements are under the care of Frank Vader of Gunnison Funeral Service.
