Delmer 'Bud' McKelvy

Delmer “Bud” McKlevy of Fruita passed away on April 28 in Broomf ield. He was 78 years old. Bud was born to John Aubrey McKelvy and Marcella (Hilton) McKelvy on Oct. 23, 1935, in Chickasha, Okla. He was married to Patricia McKelvy from 1969 to 1979. In 1984, he married Betty McKelvy in Fruita, to whom he was married until Betty’s death in 2011. Bud worked in construction as a general contractor. He enlisted in the Army right af ter high school to avoid being drafted. He served in Korea f rom 1952-1954 and received an honorable discharge. Later on in life, he attended college. Bud is survived by his son Shawn McKelvy of Highlands Ranch; step-daughters Lyla Jones of Thornton, and Cheryl Jones of Wheatridge; sisters Betty Weaver of Oregon, and Ramona Howard of Olathe; as well as three grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Betty; ex-wife Patricia, who passed away four months prior to Bud; and sister Janella Tate. Memorial services for Bud were held May 19 at the Rosemont Baptist Church in Montrose. His ashes were buried at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on May 23.
