Richard Eugene Miles died July 7, 2016 at the age of 58 at Gunnison Valley Hospital in Gunnison, Colo. His funeral services were held July 12, 2016 at Community Church of Gunnison. There was a private burial at Gunnison Cemetery with the family. Rick was born June 19, 1958 in Gunnison, Colo. to Bill and Jeanne Miles. He grew up in Gunnison where he attended Gunnison High School. He was an exceptional multi-sport athlete excelling in wrestling and football. He graduated high school in 1977 and attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction, Colo. His professions included lineman and butcher in Colorado, Oregon and Washington which he tirelessly performed until injuries prevented him from continuing. In addition to his full time work, he also served as a first responder firefighter and emergency medical technician. He was a passionate member of his local church community wherever he lived. What brought him greatest joy were his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Billy Miles. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Jeanne Miles; siblings Jim Miles and Tena Ferchau; wife Lyn Miles; his children Kahra (Josh) Barron, Kevin (Shannon) Miles, Eric (Melissa) Miles and Michael Pacheco; his grandchildren, Desiree Barron, Darci Jean Barron, Liliana Pacheco and William Miles; and several other family members who loved him.
