Sluggers win one, lose one at district tourney

GHS Baseball — The day after the Gunnison High (GHS) baseball team lost to Alamosa in the district tournament, thus ending their season, it rained in the Gunnison Valley. It was as if God was shedding tears over a season that appeared so rich with possibility. With big hitters, fast runners and so much speed behind the ball that each time it reached Colby Archuleta’s catcher’s mitt you could hear an echo in an open field, many thought this would be the year the Cowboys made it to the state tournament.
