CARA gymnastics competition comes to Gunnison

A rhythmic beat echoes from the speakers. Every few seconds, a cheer from the crowd adds to the commotion inside the Gunnison Recreation Center. On the main floor, a single girl dances in sync with the music, the spotlight clearly on her. It’s not all that’s going on. On all sides of the gym, girls take turns on the parallel bars, the beam, or the vault in front of eager judges. Giant white cards flash with black numerals, indicating scores —some of which bring about smiles, some bringing frowns.
